I don't have a recipe handy, but maybe the team would like jambalaya? It's a great dish to make ahead of time.

Hello! I was looking a your post about TWTM and saw something else you used for your younger children but didnt know what it stood for!! FFL I think it was? My daughter who is 6 enjoys the Language Lessons book but my son just turned 4 and has not got the interest as she does. So I was hoping to find out what the other book or program was, as my son does not really write or anything as of yet. Thanks so much!

Get Creative (with writing!) for Halloween: Tombstone Prompts

by QueenBee on 10-24-2015 at 12:16 PM
A few years ago, I was teaching a workshop-style creative writing class to middle school and high school girls and decided to focus on "horror" as the genre for October. I did a different warm-up exercise each week, and the one that turned out to be my favorite was writing short stories based on funny tombstone epitaphs....

Overdue Update...

by QueenBee on 10-15-2015 at 01:41 PM
A lot has changed in the past year. My husband's father fell ill after Labor Day last fall, and my husband flew out to be with him for a few days. Those three days turned into six months. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away after battling his illness and I am forever grateful that my husband was able to spend those precious months with him. It was difficult for the girls and I, but we managed. Our homeschool year did not go as planned, but it did go. My husband came home and we tried to finish

Homeschool Room - Redone

Time For a Change
20140801_214742-jpg
Now that I'm homeschooling middle and high school girls, it was time to change up the school room and make it a cool hangout for tween and teen gals (plus a 30-somthing mama). I spent a good part of two weeks cleaning out, rearranging, decluttering, and decorating. Here's the (almost) finished product. I'm still working on organizing the kids' desks as well as wall art, but so far it is a much-improved room. I'm actually looking

9 months - Time flies!

by QueenBee on 07-18-2014 at 05:30 PM
It's been over nine months since I've written a blog post.
Wow.
People have babies in that amount of time.

My best friend and I were discussing our (very under-posted upon) blogs, and as such I've decided to write a post.

So much has happened since my last post, dated October 1, 2013. And that post wasn't a "real" post - it was a link to a fabulous giveaway. I digress. In October, I was chin-deep in my graduate studies, trying to balance

Sailing School

by QueenBee on 08-15-2013 at 08:13 PM
Our summer usually ends with sailing school, and this year was no exception. And after three years of sail camp, the girls are ready to join in the fall racing clinics so that next summer they can participate in the sailing regattas which take place all around the Chesapeake Bay. Go girls!

Sailing is fun, but there are also valuable lessons which apply to life .... to read the rest of this post, please click here. Thanks for reading!
