Hi there! I just joined SHS and was wondering how to get involved in your NC group I saw. We live in Raleigh and would love to be able to connect with some locals. Is that something you could help me with?

Hey... I'm unable to post again. I sent Michael a visitor message (like I'm doing here) to let him know, but I haven't heard anything. If I need to download a new browser, I can do that, I just need to know. Thanks

I just wanted to blog about something that I feel VERY strong about... working hard to get what you want out of life. To me, no one gives you anything in life unless you are extremely lucky to have someone willing to help you out. But even if you have EVERYTHING handed to you (money, trips, cars, job, etc) , you still don't have everything.

boyspiedmont-jpgWhen someone talks about the pros and cons of homeschooling, I can always say the pros out weigh the cons!Take this day of learning at the Piedmont Nature Center Homeschooling Day Camp, this wonderful place gave us homeschoolers a free day of learning at their awesome facility. I also got to be on the ground floor of their desire to create a program geared towards homeschoolers.

Reflecting on the my decision...

by pandahoneybee on 01-09-2012 at 09:53 AM
Well this week flew by!! I didn't even have a chance to post on here until now, ya know when the house is quiet and all the noises are just me typing!! You know that feeling?! I actually had a day where I could reflect on my life and how it has changed since I became an accidental homeschooler. If you would have told me I would be doing this 10 years ago, I would have kindly asked you to take your crazy thoughts and ideas some place else!

About us was created to provide information, resources, and a place to share and connect with secular homeschoolers across the world. aims to be your one-stop shop for all things homeschool! We will be highlighting information about wonderful secular homeschool resources, and keeping you up to date with what is going on in the world of secular homeschooling. But that is only the beginning. SHS is your playground. A place to share the things that are important to you. A place to create and join groups that share your interests. A place to give and get advice. There are no limits to what you can do at Secular Homeschool, so join today and help build the community you have always wanted. is a community and information source where secular homeschoolers ARE the majority. It is the home for non-religious homeschoolers, eclectic homeschoolers, freethinking homeschoolers AND anyone interested in homeschooling irrespective of religion. This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
