Hi! I'm sorry if this is not right to message you directly, but I was searching the site and saw you posted about the FPEA a while back. Do you still recommend the group? I was also considering attending the conference, but then started looking at the vendors and there seem to mostly be Christian based curriculum. I don't mind a mention here and there, but I don't want it shoved in my kids faces every day.

Sort of Back to School

by Marmalade on 09-13-2011 at 10:55 AM
My plan was to start school on September 12th and to kind of roll into it slowly. My baby was due-oh last week-and he still isn't here...

I really wanted to start the week after he was born-but he threw a wrench in that plan! I went ahead and started though-things were already written on a calendar, after all.

The day was extremely light. The kids spent most of the day running around outside looking for their cat that got out the night before...finally my 12 year

Portfolios are done!

by Marmalade on 08-19-2011 at 12:47 PM
I completed our second year portfolios last night and I feel such a huge weight off of my shoulders!

I am making better plans for this coming year-ways to make sure that we log everything and that the older children have more responsibility in that department. My (current youngest) son is officially starting this year and all of that record keeping is going to be the end of if the girls can help then that would just be great.

Our evaluation will be on Sunday-I'm

Can you feel underwhelmed and overwhelmed at the same time?

by Marmalade on 08-09-2011 at 03:28 PM
Our portfolios are due to be reviewed here in the next few weeks. I promised myself last year that I would have everything ready and be On The Ball when it comes to portfolio reviews.

I broke that promise.

Now I'm trying to get everything together at the last minute....and feeling like I haven't documented enough...then reminding myself that I documented even less last year and had a super easy review. I am using the same evaluator this year-I shouldn't be so insane...then

End of Year Two

by Marmalade on 06-17-2011 at 02:08 PM
We've officially wrapped up our second year of homeschool and because of that I have been reflecting on the changes our family has underwent in the past two years.

When we first decided to homeschool I was full of conflicting emotions...deep down I knew what we were doing was best but I had the nagging inner voice (Along with the nagging outer voices of people who thought they knew best!) telling me that I was messing up my chidlren for life "Who are you to think you can do this?"
