    Hi Mel,

Welcome to the forum and to homeschooling! Rockland is a beautiful area! Unfortunately we don't live close by and my DS is quite a bit older so I don't know anyone your child's age in your area. There is a large and active homeschool group based in Camden--Homeschoolers of Maine (HOME); they are Christian but we've joined on a few field trips and they've been perfectly lovely. I think they sometimes offer classes but we haven't taken them so I can't say how heavily religious they might be. I think there's quite a thriving homeschool community in Camden, if not in Rockland.

If you are looking for things going on, have you joined the Maine yahoo groups? Statewide field trips, classes, ski and park days often show up there. Your library may have an idea about groups in your town, too.

If you have any specific questions about homeschooling in Maine, feel free to ask.

Good luck on your new adventure!

Although, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
