Newbie Here!! Looking into curriculum for reading, writing, and spelling

Hi, I am taking the plunge this year. My ds is 8 and would have been going into the 3rd grade. He has wasted 2 years of his life in public school, so I am pretty much gonna start over or do a crash course review this summer into early fall. I need a strong language arts curriculum: phonics, reading, spelling, moderate writing, and beginning technical grammar. Truth be told, I am an English freak.
