  1. Hi Kristine,

I won't be much help for groups around Indy, as we're in Northwest IN, near Valpo. However, if you are not already, join the Indiana yahoo homeschool group: IndianaHomeschoolers : Indiana's Hoosier Homeschool Community Then post there asking about groups with older kids.

My kids participate in an academic competition that I coach with other homeschoolers. My kids also socialize with ps and private school kids through their 4-H group and part time jobs. (...about 8-16 hours a week).
My son also hangs out with friends at a volunteer position they have with the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. As they get older, you just have to be more creative in finding "social circles" outside homeschooling. Also, you might just have to "make it happen" and form a teen group yourself.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. Hi Carol, my name is Kristine. My 15 year old DD and I were browsing around the internet looking for secular Indy area homeschool groups and we stumbled upon this forum. We have 5 children, but it's always been more difficult to find older homeschoolers for us to meet-up with. I noticed you have older children and I wanted to know if you have found any local groups for them to be involved and engaged with peers. Our other children are: dd13, ds 9, ds7, ds4. We are also currently taking care of our 4 year old niece (long story). Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. :-)

    Have a fun day,
    Kristine

SecularHomeschool.com is a community and information source where secular homeschoolers ARE the majority. It is the home for non-religious homeschoolers, eclectic homeschoolers, freethinking homeschoolers AND anyone interested in homeschooling irrespective of religion. This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
