Roll Calll, 10/21 - Pass the baton?!?
I think it's time that I pass the duties of "Roll Call" to someone who can make it more regular feature, and someone who is still in the trenches of homeschooling. I think it often veers into really interesting and/or helpful ideas that I don't feel I am keeping up on.
So, who would be interested? RTB, Alexsmom, NZ_Mama? Anyone else? I'd be willing to share the duties if someone doesn't want to do it every week. Let me know. In the meantime, I will continue to do it justice.
What's been happening here? Ran the 5K at Purdue with my son while DH ran the half marathon. He did his PR on that course, so he was thrilled. And my son pushed my speed, so I finished a couple of minutes earlier than I had hoped. Not bad, considering I had only started back running about 2 weeks ago.
DH and I leave in a few days for Portugal. Have no idea what to expect other than lots of history and relaxing times.Last edited by inmom; 10-21-2019 at 04:46 PM.

Ummm, I like you doing it!
How else would we know youre going to Portugal? Which is way more exciting than anything going on around here.... except hubby is finally getting his Tesla that hes been wanting forever.
Portugal though sounds like way more fun! Are you going historical sight seeing? Hiking around?
All these fun things you get to do now that your younguns have flown the coop! (Im looking wistfully, daydreaming of future travels without kids.)Homeschooling DS13, DS6.

I can share. But FWIW, I'm totally in the trenches / survival mode with high school right now. Keeping up on educational / homeschooling theory / philosophy / law at this point is low on the list for me
.
Your trip sounds ideal - share some pictures with us when you get back!
AM - Oh fancy car! How exciting. I'm limping along my 14 year old car, so that I can pass it down to DS in a year.
New here - DS started swimming with the local high school swim team in addition to his club team (I had to take a picture, '1st day of High School' - he said I was crazy.) DD is working hard to be moved up a group in swim. She is dealing with more middle school girl drama - ugh - but her chin is up. Our holidays are over - and we are ready to hit the books. Our November schedule looks pretty free - yes! I think we'll be able to finish the year at a nice pace and be at a good place goal wise when we take our winter break.Rebecca

And here I was worried that you were all getting sick of the mutterings of an empty-nester who only deals with the homeschooled kids of others at this point for a few hours per week.
I can continue. However, if there seems to be a lag, anyone can jump in anytime and start a thread.Carol

Neat car! There aren't that many around here (heart of the Midwest). It was only recently around here that people stopped frowning at you if you didn't buy an American-made gas guzzler. (A large part of the local population at the time were employed by one of two steel mills.)
DH and I don't have any specific itinerary planned other than we have places to stay and train tickets to get between them. I imagine we'll do a lot of walking of castles, monasteries, museums, and neighborhoods. Oh, and a port tasting or two in Porto.Carol

Oh wow. Teslas are rare somewhere? Theyre now pretty common here. We used to play a “Spot the Tesla” car game when we were going places, now the game is “More Teslas or Highlanders?” (I drive a Highlander.) Always more Teslas.
DH’s car is 15 yrs old, and he says the transmission is about to go, so I guess if the man wants a new car, hes earned it. We did test drive a lot of comparable gas-fed cars, but he loves the Tesla more.
Have fun on your trip! I hope you get to eat yummy food!Homeschooling DS13, DS6.

Tesla's are popular here too. I see an IUD when I look at the logo - too many years in women's health I think - lol!
I always enjoy your Roll Call, Carol!Rebecca

Wow an IUD? I thought the logo looked like a wine bottle opener.
Oh! Superchargers at Costco? Ooooooooh I may be taking the car there! We got 1000 free miles from the referral thing.
And we have solar panels too! We may or may not need more to cover the car charging.
(Ive found we need less AC because the panels shade the roof... and AC is definitely the biggest electricity hog we have.)Homeschooling DS13, DS6.
