    Default Monday Roll Call, 11/21

    Good Morning
Can I say I am pooped and it is only 6:50am.
Oldest DS is off to jury duty. He is NOT an early riser, he is NOT happy about this. He is NOT always aware of surroundings, so sending him downtown, on the bus, alone, to NOT go on a tirade about anything when asked is a huge OMG stress for Mama today. But, I got him up and not brother(they share a room), got some breakfast in him, he was dressed, teeth and out the door on time. With lunch. WHEW
Then DH up and out the door.
Now for DS to be aware and get off at right stop.
2 kiddos today. Things will be weird. Sewing cabinet that was in part of daycare area is gone. Packed in car to drop off at my Moms. Shelf will be moved there but not until Thanksgiving break, so today and tomorrow... big weird space. And extra toys shoved in places.
Brother is doing ok. Suffering from ICU dementia. Guess it is a thing. He is imagining things that are not happening. Like he posted on FB that his fingertips were falling off and he had been in hospital 9 days. He has been there 2 weeks at that time and his fingertips were NOT falling off. He has back surgery on Wed. to remove last of his hardware AND possibly his brain catheter. We were going to see him on Wed. when I go get my niece so she can spend Thanksgiving with us, but we won't if he is due to go into surgery or just getting out.
So mad. Had my grocery list. Did most of it on Friday. Had the list on IT for Costco last night. Can't find list. GRRR Try to recreate it. I can remember most of it. We bought 1 item elsewhere, so took that off. Got it all. Remembered this morning when I went to make coffee... that coffee filters were also on list and I forgot. I have basket ones I can and am using but my machine requires those cone flat ones. Guess we will muddle through for another week.
Making pumpkin pie paper plates puzzles today, complete with spice scented orange paint so it is like a scratch n sniff when dry. Other than that. Freeplay. I only have kids 2 days, then off rest of week for Thanksgiving.
OMG. Inlaws. DH talks to them last night and they are telling them they got a phone call about winning a prize. Didn't know from WHAT or whom, said it had been for filling out a survey. Guy came to their house. Stayed for 3 hours. It was for an in-house vacuum supposedly. Now, DH is an ex-cop, ex-military and was like OMG. They just cased your house, saw what you had, learned your habits. He was so pissed at them, that he didn't ask anymore like if they had gotten a business card, name of company, etc. and cross-checked it. We have been burglarized over Thanksgiving while we were gone. We are over precautious now. DH usually stays home. He is this year again, mainly because work wouldn't let him off. Boys and I are grabbing niece and headed to my Moms. BUT we are to stay at inlaws to take care of their dog as SIL rental house doesn't allow pets. DH made the mistake of mentioning this in front of oldest DS who flipped out that something could happen to Grammy/Poppy's house while we were there because they let this person in, etc. He is still traumatized from it happening to us. SO, now... I am thinking of taking one of our dogs with us. He is most reliable and polite one. Will bark if anyone tries to enter house at night, and we will make sure it is 100% locked up during the day.
    Oh, the joys.....

Have a MARVELOUS Monday everyone. Off to muck out this mess! And get some much needed coffee.

So excited for today (Tuesday) - its going to be hot for here (about 80 Farenheit), sunny, blue skies. We are going to do minimal school work today and head to a beach and have fun. For the school work we are doing, we have managed to find our groove again with BYL – I was feeling a bit jaded about doing the the American Civil War and the Taping Revolution around the same time, it all seemed a bit much – but we are going to do them separately just 1 week on each and I found a good replacement book for the Taiping Revolution that has less of a focus on that and more of a focus on life in China. Anyway, off to enjoy our sunshine!

Well, we first thought this was a crappy week to do this jury duty. We have TONS going on and if he gets picked, he misses out on going to Grandparents possibly, etc.
BUT, he is already done for today. Only a couple cases on docket to pick for. He is waiting on bus home.
Has to report tomorrow but same thing could happen.

So maybe the week of Thanksgiving is a good week, as nobody wants to be there or do this or took the week off, etc.

Picked up DD Friday for Thanksgiving break from college. So good to have her home. She'll go with me tomorrow to pick up DS at his university. He texted me today that he got a 100% on his computer science midterm. They make me so proud.

After her dentist appt, we came home and are now baking 10 pumpkin pies. We grew the pumpkins in our garden this year and just didn't want to toss them on the compost pile. So we gave some away and I cooked the rest down in my crock pot. Tomorrow morning we'll take the pies to a group that helps homeless get housing.

I've got some early evening tutoring to do today, but the week should be lighter.

I took two days off from my drawing, I really need to get back into it tomorrow. Or rather today since it is after midnight but I haven't gone to sleep yet so I'm counting it as Monday still.
I made all the envelopes for our Yule/Christmas countdown. I used the Yule countdown as a guide. It was a really good thing to have last year but we celebrate both holidays and at least a few didn't really make sense for us. So I switched out a few and made some of my own. Last year I used one I bought online it came with a puzzle, stickers and little pieces of paper that folded into little envelopes. Each day you open one it either tells you about something you'll do that day or some little saying fact. It was neat. This year I made envelopes and I'm printing out a whole new set of slips of paper to stuff inside. I'm labeling the envelopes with numbers so they'll be reusable, and I can switch out the inside bits. Tomorrow I need to glue on all the numbers and then sort all the activity specific things I have to plan for, and make sure I put them on the calendar too.
I just remembered I never switched out the water filter.
I keep thinking of all the things I probably need for this art sale. I probably need a money box, what if someone pays in cash? I think I need to buy some sort of stand for at least one or two of my drawings to elevate them off the table to grab people's attention. I still need to sort out some sort of order form for commissions. I might need some sort of card or something to give out in addition to my business card that I can write down some sort of info about the commission on it or something. Or maybe just a business card is fine. I'm not sure if I need a table cloth. I'm starting to think maybe I should have just attended this year and signed up to sell next year so I'd have a better idea of what I'm doing but then I think if thought about it too much I wouldn't do it. I have very little idea of what I'm doing.
I finished Christmas/Yule shopping for the cats today, and I stocked up on their food. So feel all set with them. I might buy one more stick toy. I'm almost done with the holiday shopping too. I need to buy two more gift cards, as long as the one I ordered with rewards points ever comes. I'm having the worst streak of luck with mail. My gift card didn't come, my one package never showed, the print I ordered for Teemie came bent, despite "DO NOT BEND" being stamped all over it. One package didn't update for 3 days after it "failed to update" so I emailed about it and they responded the day after it finally showed up. I'm waiting for a supervisor to call me back about the gift card, and the package that went missing is being investigated by the carrier, and the store shipped another one.
