    Default New To Homeschool

Hello! I am a mom to a 6 year old and a 3 year old. My 6 year old attended public school for Kindergarten and we have chosen to homeschool this year for a variety of reasons. We will be starting next week but I am very nervous. I've watched many videos and read many articles on schedules, curriculums, etc so I am going to try my best to jump in knowing that we can change things along the way, if needed. I look forward to learning from others and having a place to go for support!

Good luck! I'm also new to homeschooling this year. I totally understand why you're nervous - it's a big deal! But try to relax and let yourself enjoy the time you spend learning with your kiddo!

Based on the ages of your children, I suggest figuring out a general schedule, then worry about curriculum. For example, breakfast/brushing teeth, making beds by 9 am, read aloud time soon after, handwriting practice at 10:30, math, etc. Figure out what works for your family. Most people with toddlers use the younger child's naptime for one-on-one subjects like math.
