    Default Just Getting Started!

    Hey there!
A quick (maybe not) intro here. We are preparing to begin our homeschool journey. I have two boys, 11 and 8. Feeling bad to be taking my 6th grader out of his school where he has been since Kinder and was finally to be the older kid on campus. He was very successful, straight As, advanced placement, perfect standardized test scores (so basically no bad experience to remove him from). My 8 year old would be in third grade. He hated school immensely and would have pretty bad break downs some mornings and refuse to go. No real issues at school (I checked with teacher and had counselor meet with him), but he lacked friends in class and was rather bored I think.
The current situation encouraged me to make this transition; however, we have a goal to be on the road...well, on the water!, in another year or so and would have to be homeschooling. Thinking this is a great opportunity to make the transition now so they have one big change out of the way! Boys are on board and I am excited, but nervous. I do not want to fail them! My son wants very badly to stay at a high level and fall behind. I keep telling him we have this covered buddy! Thanks for the community!

Welcome! Boatschooling (for next year) sounds really fun, and this year will be a great time to explore how homeschooling will go.

My spelling was fine, then my brain left me.

My son's 11 and a rising 5th grader. He also had a really positive experience with school. I'm sorry your little guy didn't have such luck. Sounds like this could be a really great change of pace for him, and for your family overall.

    Good luck!

Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
