Default Hello from a homeschooling rookie :)

Yes, the choices can be overwhelming, especially when you have no idea about what works, and what’s what.

Clearing out the noise from the good products (and the ones good for your situation) can be challenging.
You can probably toss out anthing that promises genius level results without any work on your part, anything that is expensive, and anything that promises to cover all your curriculum bases. (As the pandemic has shown, remote learning works in VERY FEW cases.)
What are your sons favorite subjects, how does he feel about writing and history and science and math? Does he have any special interests that could be incorporated into his schoolwork?
We can give you curriculum suggestions, but we need to know more about how you envision homeschooling, and what his inclinations likely are.

Just go slowly. Pick one thing to work on at a time. Starting with the topics that you think are the most important and then work your way down as you figure them out. Try out as many free samples and tests as you can of those that you are interested in before you purchase anything. You will get there, and along the way you will probably buy some curricula that don't work out. Don't be afraid to stop using them (i.e., don't keep using them just because you paid for them and you feel you should; it is no fun for either the child or parent).
