    Default Hey from Ypsi!

Hi! I live in Ypsilanti, MI, and I've followed the SH FB page for several years because I love the posts! I homeschooled my oldest daughter for a couple of years, but then the past five years my three kids have attended public school. They are ALL asynchronous (gifted), though, and are bored at school, so we do a lot of supplemental learning at home. I'm a full-time public school teacher but I want to get OUT! I've worked with Usborne Books & More for a year (so I have all the books I need for awesome homeschooling!) and also just started an online teaching job, so I hope to be able to stay home and homeschool very soon! We are UU (interfaith humanist religion) and so a secular, science-based approach is very important to us.

I'd be happy to share a link for my UBAM site and info re: online teaching with VIP Kid, but I'm not sure if that's ok with your site rules, so I'll wait to find out.

Welcome! I hope your online teaching job works out and you get to start homeschooling again soon.

I work from home (freelance science editor) and homeschool. So it is possible. Currently, I only homeschool my oldest (DD11) and my youngest (DD6) is at school. DD6 asked to try school and she is ok there but finds it pretty boring most of the time. She would like to homeschool again, but first I have to sort out DD11's behavior as she has some pretty big meltdowns about things. So I understand having kids at school and wanting to get back to homeschooling.
NZ homeschoolers (school year runs start Feb to mid Dec).
    DD 12 (year 7) and DD 7 (year 2).
    Fourth year homeschooling.
    Part-time freelance science copyeditor.
