Hello -new to this forum. Excited to be here. I have had a hard time connecting with other secular families, and hope to make some connections here!

I guess my homeschool style is generally eclectic as I tend to pick what I like from the many different styles; but, we have dabbled in many different philosophies --Charlotte Mason, Unschooling, Montessori, and Waldorf.

Last year, we tried AO (Ambleside Online), and I think the people there are lovely and I still belong to their forum, but the book selections were just too religiously bent for my liking. This year we are going to start out with BYL (Build Your Library). Just going from the beginning with Level 1.

Katy, if you liked Ambleside, but not the books, have you see Ursa Minor? Just something to keep in mind for the future since it sounds like your kids are young. They're adding more stuff on though. Also, BYL is great. Just nice to know options.

Welcome! We’ve used BYL 1 and 2 and will be starting 3 in a month or so. We love it and I hope you do, too.
Getting ready to start 5th grade with DD. Grateful for having the guts to go with this crazy notion of homeschooling my kiddo.
