    Default Hello from South Carolina!

Hi all. Can't remember if I've properly introduced myself. My name's Amber. I'm currently homeschooling my two children, grades first and pre-k. We usually search teacherspayteachers.com for resources and use computer games to supplement. We were very relaxed last school year with the teaching. This year we will be on a schedule. I think it might work a little better for our day. We're getting started on July 18th, and we plan to take field trips on Fridays. So if anyone has any suggestions for those Fridays (in NC/SC or even GA), that would be great! I look forward to connecting with y'all!

    Welcome Amber!

We live in New Zealand and never got to visit South Carolina while we lived in the USA (2010–mid 2013).

Hope you had a good first day of homeschool. Is this the start of your school year? Ours starts in late Jan and goes through to mid Dec).

What field trips do you have planned so far? We are not great on the field trips here. We always aim to do things, and then get busy with other stuff and don't get round to them as often as I would like. One that my oldest enjoyed doing a year or so ago was planning a bus trip to somewhere in our city. So she picked the place, and worked out what bus stop we needed to go to, what buses we needed to take, and what we would do at our destination. We don't catch public transport that often, and she loves public transport, so she found that really fun.

SecularHomeschool.com is a community and information source where secular homeschoolers ARE the majority. It is the home for non-religious homeschoolers, eclectic homeschoolers, freethinking homeschoolers AND anyone interested in homeschooling irrespective of religion. This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
