    Default Hello from NV!

Thank you for adding me to this forum. I have a daughter who is currently enrolled in a charter school. I am interested in home schooling her, because I work weird hours and I'd like to be able to do more normal family things with her. I am a complete newbie, and I am scared I won't be able to do this while working full time and keep my sanity. I'm here to try to figure it out.

Welcome! Your situation reminds me of a homeschooling article I found the other day...
ESPN analyst who homeschools her son says people 'look at me as if I am crazy' - ABC News
(That mom homeschools through a charter hybrid - still too much structure for me, but to each their own comfort level!)

You may find homeschooling easier to juggle than coordinating her current schoolwork - homeschooling both takes less time (averages about 10 hrs per week at this age... 2 hrs day / 5 days a week... if you do 5 days per week), and has flexibility in when you homeschool.

What sorts of questions do you have? Everyone here started homeschooling at some point, we can all relate to what you are going through.

    Atheist.

My spelling was fine, then my brain left me.

Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
