    Talking Hi from Alabama

A few years ago my husband and I decided we would homeschool our children once it was time. Now my older child is 5 and we started this week! I've actually lurked on here for about a year, trying to learn all I can. Y'all've already been a great help!

My daughter and I are both working on this transition now. Until this week, I have worked full-time and she was at a daycare. The hardest thing so far is she misses her friends. The school part itself has gone very well. She definitely prefers math to phonics and reading.

My younger son is still at daycare. Today I began to wonder if I should have him at home as well, if only for her sister -- she needs a buddy. He can be so wild, though.

We're in the suburbs of Birmingham.

I did end up deciding to bring the boy home. We start this week!

If there are any active birmingham folks still here, can you please send me a PM? I will be new to the area in April, and am interested in finding some info on any groups.

This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
