    Default Standardized testing

    Okay so...
What the heck is on standardized tests?
In my state (NC), we will have to standardized test each year once we officially open our homeschool.
While I have ZERO desire to teach for testing (obviously - or else he'd be going to public school), I also want to make sure he's not shocked by a whole bunch of stuff he doesn't know or has never seen before, and I wouldn't want him to completely bomb or show no progress year to year because of that.
(From what I understand, we must show progress and our scores may be inspected by state officials.)
I can't seem to find anything that tells me what's on these tests or what we should work on for them.
What do they want to test him on at each grade/age level?
    It's absolutely mysterious to me.
We have more than a year before I have to open our homeschool and worry about that, but I'm the type who needs to do the research and be prepared well in advance.
    Who has any useful info?

    Google will be your friend.

You can also get sample practice tests from the testing companies themselves. (I think.)

If youre up to grade level in math, and alright for reading comprehension, you should be fine. Answering multiple choice questions wasnt that hard for my oldest son to figure out. He has done the state testing every year since 3rd grade, and his lack of test taking preparation hasnt hindered him.
    Homeschooling DS13, DS6.

My spelling was fine, then my brain left me.
