Fine Arts: My son did Professor Carol's Discovering Music course in high school. A bit of music, art, history, and even world political history all mixed in.

English: My kids picked a theme each year--British, American, or World Lit, short stories, poetry, sci fi, women writers..... Then we selected books within that theme. At high school age, I think you'll find you'll get more cooperation if your child has input. You can usually find ideas for writing prompts/questions by googling "Title of Book" lesson plans, prompts, etc.

Homeschooled two kids for 11 years, now trying to pay it forward

Daughter -- a University of Iowa graduate: BA in English with Creative Writing, BA in Journalism, and a minor in Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies

Son -- a Purdue University graduate: BS in Computer Science, minor in math, geology, anthropology, and history
