Has anyone used *******? What was your experience? My kids are going into 3rd and 5th grade and I'm considering it for a few subjects. Thanks!

They are so underhanded that their name is banned here. I believe when it was pointed out a couple years ago that the founder leads a cult, and lies about his qualifications, that they threatened a lawsuit.

Oh, no. I'm sorry. I wouldn't have asked if I'd know. Where can I find the banned list?

I've never heard the cult accusations. But A-cellus is banned here because they kept spamming. Every review I've ever seen has basically said that the content is comprehensive but extremely basic and not especially great. There are several providers doing the same thing for cutthroat prices now. In general, you get what you pay for with something like that. If it sounds too good to be true with online courses, it might be.

It was when you werent visiting. The thread was disappeared, but there was a side discussion in BPWHD.
I followed up on the owner’s claims of a double major from BYU, a simple call to the registrars office exposed that lie. Giving himself made up degrees beyond that... not exactly full of forthright integrity.
As far as cult goes, well, call it what you want. A splinter faction from LDS, living in an underground compound built under a mountain, self-proclaiming to be a prophet and the personality to go with.... just not kool-aid I want to drink.

AFAIK, it's the only such product that's banned here and it's because of the marketing tactics from a few years back. There are not strict rules here about mentioned non-secular products, for example, though they're not supposed to be listed on the curriculum directory.

Hmmm Perhaps you are thinking of edu-sents (sic). They kept popping up, posing as real homeschooling parents, just happening to share the sale on the site. Also distasteful.
Aceless had new “people” turning up to rave about their product, but banishment came when the prophet attacked site members and threatened lawsuit. It was back in the day where that sort of “social media influencing” was all the rage.

Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
