Default Help! Interesting books with basic vocabulary?

My 9yo is an enthusiastic reader, but reads mostly by sight (no matter how much phonics work we do, this is just the way he's wired). He needs repetition to help him optimize his sight reading.

So I'm looking for books that will hold his interest, but repeat smaller, simpler words so he can practice sight reading them. We need books without a lot of made-up words or onomatopoeia, but lots of variations on common words.

We have already exhausted Amelia Bedelia, but another reader series would be ideal.

Here are a few series that I think about might be in the Amelia Bedelia range that we found fun:

    1. Click, Clack, Moo series by Betsy Lewin
    2. Scooby Doo readers
    3. Little Critter
    4. Curious George
    5. Lego readers
    6. Eric Carle
