I think this was my father's. The copyright date is 1924.

I loved it during my childhood, have a very nice hardback copy that has held up surprisingly well for 91 years and can still be handled by an unsupervised 7 year old. I see that there are later, relatively inexpensive copies on several used book sites.

The stories are sweet without being saccharine. I wouldn't exactly call them "timeless", because of such historical details as telephones, automobiles, etc. but they are relateable and a gentle introduction to the concept of history.

They are easy to read, but have plotlines and character development. Gordon and his friends make mistakes and learn from them.

I want a sequel! Does anybody know if she wrote about more of Gordon's adventures or anything similar for new readers?

TIA
