Default Biscuit "My First I Can Read" series by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

My daughter just picked up some of these books and after having only been doing short vowels with Bob and other phonics series, she was able to piece together about 70% of the text on her own, and the rest with just a little help. She loves the adorable illustrations and the silly antics of Biscuit, as do I, and I highly recommend them as the "next step" now after the other early early readers.

We own a few of these delightful tales, though Lil E can't read them all by herself yet. She has begun picking out short words and for the most part, remembers the entire story.

These were the books that gave my son (now 8) the confidence he needed to really start enjoying reading. I have some for my daughters, as well.

Kiddo really liked them too. I love the illustrations and how gender neutral they are. Most of the other early readers at the local library are either superheroes or princesses, not really our cup of tea.

LOVE these books so much! My older daughter enjoyed learning to read with them and now a few years later is excited to read them to my toddlers. I would highly recommend Biscuit.

This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
