• Introducing: From Soup to Nuts - - A new weekly featured forum section

soup-nuts-title-image-jpgMy fingers are kind of tingling as I type this post, because I haven't been this excited about site news in a while. Thanks to feedback from you wonderful members, we're adding a brand new forum section to SecularHomeschool.com. It's called "From Soup to Nuts" (if you aren't familiar with that fun idiom, check it out on Wikipedia), and the idea behind it is to create some in-depth discussions on a wide variety of topics of interest to secular homeschoolers.

Sometimes, we'll be featuring guest posters with a particular background or passion in a specific subject. Other times, we'll pull apart a news story or trending topic and look at it from every angle. But either way, From Soup to Nuts will be a single weekly featured thread on SHS that will let us explore a specific subject in-depth with our famous talent for creating dynamic discussion. And even cooler - - when we have a featured guest poster - - that person will stick around for the entirety of the week to answer questions and engage in the conversation.

Just a couple things to note about this new forum section.

    1) It will open next Monday, May 18 and will feature our first guest poster, Karen Lock Kolp, who is homeschooling while dealing with chronic illness. (For more about Karen's story, read this piece from Bay State Parent.)
    2) It will not be an "open" forum in the sense that only admins and guest posters will be able to create new threads - - but ANYONE can participate in the featured discussions.

If you have a suggestion for a topic for From Soup to Nuts, or a person you'd like to see featured, could you either follow up in the comments below or contact us?

Secularhomeschool.com aims to be your one-stop shop for all things homeschool! We will be highlighting information about wonderful secular homeschool resources, and keeping you up to date with what is going on in the world of secular homeschooling. But that is only the beginning. SHS is your playground. A place to share the things that are important to you. A place to create and join groups that share your interests. A place to give and get advice. There are no limits to what you can do at Secular Homeschool, so join today and help build the community you have always wanted.

SecularHomeschool.com is a community and information source where secular homeschoolers ARE the majority. It is the home for non-religious homeschoolers, eclectic homeschoolers, freethinking homeschoolers AND anyone interested in homeschooling irrespective of religion. This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
