    This week our little patch of Northern Michigan got about as hot as it ever gets... in the low 90's. My relatives in Arizona probably consider this sweater weather (they regularly gets temps in the 120's, or so they tell me), but to people who live in the frosty Great Lakes region, 90 degrees feels like being perched at the rim of an active volcano.

    We use a second grade grammar workbook called "English For The Thoughtful Child." It's pretty good; it teaches the concepts slowly, one at a time, in a clear way that's easy to understand. But sometimes it just bores my kid out of his skull.
