Clermont Homeschool CO-NNECTIONS

Forming: Cincinnati secular co-op, social and enrichment group.

We are forming a secular co-op, social and enrichment group in Cincinnati. My daughter and I began homeschooling in 6th grade, but it was public online and awful for us. Last year we started our co-op primarily because we could not afford to attend a 'microschool', and most of the programs near us are Christian, not inclusive and not something we wished to participate in. We created an enrichment and social program that was inclusive of all, promoted diversity and individuality, and was flexible and affordable with no mandatory 'volunteerism', or free if you wanted to participate.

Sounds great right!? Unfortunately, despite trying to get the word out, we have had little to no interest lately. We did have programs in February through April but only a few wanted to sign up for any of our summer programs that we offered and our Fall isn't looking too good either. While most programs are already full, we have nothing happening.

We would love to have a small, interested group of parents who would like to help create this with us. Currently we have a couple of other families with children ranging from 10-14 who would like to work together to create a Fall program. We have a Fall Planning Workshop coming up. Perhaps you would like to help to create the kind of co-op that YOU really want to be in! We need involved parents like you to make this happen. In a co-op setting kids and parents can benefit from the frequency and familiarity that fosters lasting, meaningful relationships. We are thinking about having an 'after school' program where people can go to something else earlier in the day, or do their homeschool activities and come to us after 3pm and have social and enrichment activities til 6 or 6:30. Something like that. And it's fun! Come with your ideas!

We are also hosting 'Game Day' for our kids in our Rec/Game Room! We have Foosball, Air Hockey, Ping Pong, Basketball toss, and lots of board/card games. Bring your own if you like. Moms can meet and socialize with other homeschool moms! And we are also hosting a Homeschool Used Curriculum Sale which is Free to shop! It's all on the same day, the first Friday in August. If you are interested, please let me know. Are you on Facebook? I can communicate to you through the Messenger. I look forward to hearing from you!
