Just like your favorite B Movie, the DITL was SO popular in the past, that we decided to bring it back for 2019!

Are you new to SHS? Old timer who never entered? Were you shy the first time around? What are you waiting for?!!!

We love, LOVE, L-O-V-E our Secular Homeschool members SO much....that we want to read all about your homeschool! We would like to feature any and all members who would be willing to share a little bit about what goes on in the daily life of your homeschool!

This is totally voluntary, of course. But if enough members were willing to share, we will feature 1 PER MONTH on our home page! We can't imagine anything more fun than getting to be a fly on the wall of our members' homes for 24 hours, so the more submissions the better! ...

Yippee!! LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this time of year!
SecularHomeschool.com is excited to once again open our Valentines Card exchange for our members!! With our kids at home, one of the things we might miss out on is the exchanging of Valentines with our peers. For this reason, we have a whole forum specifically for the purpose of sharing names and addresses to send and receive Valentines with other secular homeschooling families.

In this activity, you are limited only by your own creativity/finances/ability to get to the post office to buy stamps.

You may purchase Valentines or make them yourselves. It might be fun to include something about your home state/country when sending, but that is totally up to you. You may also want to send a picture of yourselves, but again...totally up to you.

However, here are our top five ideas for turning this project into more than just a simple exchange of pretty pink paper... ...

Bees are buzzing. The AC is humming. The pool is calling. And the last thing your kiddo feels like doing is pulling out a pen and paper. Yet, writing is definitely one of those muscles that atrophies when not stretched. Therein lies a lazy, hazy summertime dilemma.

As with most things, the key to convincing a student to do something he or she doesn’t necessarily want to do is...to put some FUN in it! The following are four ideas for incorporating writing into a busy (or not-so-busy) summer vacation.

    Nature journaling

One part description, one part illustration, two parts personality. That’s the recipe for the best kind of nature journal. As you walk through forests, along beaches, or even just through your neighborhood, let your child’s eagle eyes scope out the stuff you just might have missed. They will notice a small feather lodged between rocks. They’ll spot a millipede on the side of a lamp post. They might even be the one to discover the four leaf clover in the middle of a field. Whatever they spy with their little eye is worth journaling about. Even better, there are no rules! They may want to tell a story about what lives between the mushrooms in the woods. They may want to label each part of the robin on the fence. Mother Nature can certainly be a young writer’s greatest muse.

    Postcard exchange

We usually host a postcard exchange on the SecularHomeschool.com forum each summer where members of SHS can privately share addresses, ages, and ...

About us

SecularHomeschool.com was created to provide information, resources, and a place to share and connect with secular homeschoolers across the world. Secularhomeschool.com aims to be your one-stop shop for all things homeschool! We will be highlighting information about wonderful secular homeschool resources, and keeping you up to date with what is going on in the world of secular homeschooling. But that is only the beginning. SHS is your playground. A place to share the things that are important to you. A place to create and join groups that share your interests. A place to give and get advice. There are no limits to what you can do at Secular Homeschool, so join today and help build the community you have always wanted.

SecularHomeschool.com is a community and information source where secular homeschoolers ARE the majority. It is the home for non-religious homeschoolers, eclectic homeschoolers, freethinking homeschoolers AND anyone interested in homeschooling irrespective of religion. This site is an INCLUSIVE community that recognizes that homeschoolers choose secular homeschool materials and resources for a variety of reasons and to accomplish a variety of personal and educational goals. Although SecularHomeschool.com, and its members, have worked hard to compile a comprehensive directory of secular curricula, it does not attest that all materials advertised on our site, in our newsletters, or on our social media profiles are 100% secular. Rather, SecularHomeschool.com respects the aptitude of each individual homeschool parent to fully research any curriculum before acquiring it, to ensure that it holistically meets the educational, personal, and philosophical goals of each homeschooler.
