"Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web."

My friend just found this yesterday and our 7 y/o's have been having a blast with it. I thought I'd pass it along to this group in case it strikes a chord with anyone here.

its been mentioned at least a half dozen times on various posts . . . have you seen the book Super Scratch Programming adventure?

(oh, and just because i'm a grumpy old-timer doesnt mean that there arent other newbies on the board who will appreciate this post)

There's a terrific book on it that my son is reading through called Super Scratch Programming Adventure! (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Scratch-Programming-Adventure-Program/dp/1593274092/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367149155&sr=8-1&keywords=scratch).

Thanks for the heads up on the book. I guess I should have done a search before posting, but I get ahead of myself sometimes.

I appreciated your post, Sweden, as I had not seen the other thread on this topic. I have marked this program as something to check out in the years ahead. Thanks!

I think it's fine you posted - you never know when someone might run across it and need the information :) Just sharing the book idea because we got it here, and it's helping my son understand BEFORE he tries the website.

Also, sometimes mentioning a resource more than once serves as a good reminder to check it out.
