I went to their site as I want to update my boys' cards and get one for the baby. But they only seem to serve schools. Does anyone know of any services like Ident-A-Kid that homeschoolers can use?

Our local police department will take your kids fingerprints for you. They also run these ID sessions once in a while. Maybe with their help you could put together your own?

Although when we were in public school I got advertisements for Ident-a-Kid quite often, it was at the local fire station where I actually met up with the program and had the kiddos identified. I think the fire station was having a family day with all sorts of family activities. So, Ident-a-kid must not be entirely school based. I'm sure they have a website but I haven't been to it.

I remember just wandering into the local PD and asking for the stuff....

I am happy to report that they have kits online that are like identakid! Yourchildsafe.com has kits that cost less than identakid. Yay! Also http://www.pollyklaas.org has free kits.
