Does anyone use Twitter as part of their daily lives or as part of their homeschooling?. In doing a little online reading, I've found a couple of nice links in how to use Twitter to get information and tune in to more than just what someone had for lunch.

Sounds sort of cool....

For example when we all come here to chat about what is best for Geography, we could also take a moment to go to Twitter search and say......#geography and see what comes up. I found a bunch of students hatin' But if we combine......

#geography #homeschool

then I got some actually useful links.

Love Twitter! I have four accounts (work-related, volunteer organization, one for my blog (https://twitter.com/#!/spanishblog) and then a personal one (https://twitter.com/#!/kbphotos)). I have found it to be a great resource for all sorts of things!

Ahhh, Twitter. Must say I don't put a heck of a lot of #homeschooling things out there - just tidbits here and there, and I do retweet anything interesting. I *mostly* use it for writing (talking to readers, reading interesting links that other writers, or publishers and agents post, etc.).

What I love most about it is finding people who post really interesting links or articles. It's just not something I have time to do myself, so I rely on TweetDeck to keep me up to date with the rest of the world. ;)

I love twitter for that. And I'll tell you why twitter is so superior to FB....you get straight to the info! No wading through anything, ever,to get to what you want. No whack privacy issues. I can, and do, interact with people from Jimmy Fallon to scientists and historians, to people who just have pertinent info about things I'm interested in. Mia Farrow is an awesome twitter-er, and I pretty much get all my human rights news from her there.

So who are you guys there then? This (https://twitter.com/#!/SmileNnodyall) is me.

Jimmy Fallon (and Sally Fallon) are the bane of my local google/twitter/etc-info existence. :)

uh oh... i may have just been convinced to get on twitter. even though i'm an info-junkie, i've been kind of resisting using it because i'm concerned about being overwhelmed with wading through stuff i don't want to get to the stuff i *do* want. my brother has been picking at me to get on tumblr, but i've been resisting for the same reason. hm...

Christina, I think Twitter has LESS to wade through. If someone starts posting a bunch of redundant or irrelevant crap, just axe them! Easy peasy lemon squeazy.

Tweet what? Huh? Is there a bird in here?
I'd boycott the internet if I didn't rely on it to meet you lovely ladies! Not to mention the wide range of info that's not in my 1000+ books.

I would love to connect with you guys on Twitter. I do tweet work stuff all the time, but its about food and gardening and herbs - so not too boring. :-P I have two accounts, my main one (http://ww.twitter.com/herbgardens), and my secondary one (http://www.twitter.com/thefarmingwife)that isn't quite as busy.
Warmly,
Amy J

I never did share my Twitter. It's mostly boring authorly (https://twitter.com/#!/JinxieFox) stuff, with the occasional genealogy RTs and once-in-a-while homeschool mentions. :P

Ok I am on Twitter too! I have already followed some of you! I organized a Twitter chat starting August 19th at 7 PM EST. It will be once a month because I know we all have lots to do! Here is my Twitter account: @MoniseLSeward (https://twitter.com/MoniseLSeward) and the hashtag for the chat is #HomeschoolChat. Hope you all can join in!

I have to sheepishly admit that I really have no idea what this Twitter is (and haven't had enough interest to look into it).

Of course, I don't use Facebook, MySpace or any other social network these days, either.

shoe...im with you. I have been avoiding getting one of accounts never the less even really know what they are for. They seem like a waste of time imo. I have been wondering how important, if at all, one of these accounts is in the hs'ing world? mind you I had a 13" tv until I was 25, bought my first computer at 26. and growing up we didnt have electric never the less a phone for half of our lives. The tv we did have was black and white. We got our first color tv when I was 15. To this day, the only 2 shows i like are Dexter and Castle. Thats the extent of my tv to this day. Needless to say, when I go back home and I am on the mountain, i dont miss any modern conveniences, I am so happy and at piece with myself, and happy to turn them off and leave them behind. How important are myspace, facebook and twitter for homeschooling?

Okay. I just joined twitter. So if you see a follower request from jlavenell, that is me. I am still trying to figure out how it all works. I have been resisting for so long because I love Facebook.
