My DS was STRuGGLING with writing an essay. He has an alphabet soup of issues and the bottom line is if he doesn't wanna, it's not going to happen.

Anyway, we work with a charter school special Ed teacher and a coach with a masters degree in family therapy, and they were getting frustrated that he just wasn't learning.

I asked DS if he would be willing to do a news segment t on their science topic, he said "sure, I can do that".

Click to see his report (the script includes an essay!) so we met the original goal and much much more. I'm really proud of him!

That is so awesome! I love it. He obviously knows what he's talking about, and he has a great voice for TV and radio.
And I love that you found a way to show what he's learned in a way that works for him.

Thanks - what was great about tis project is we got to encourage him to learn, not just the science but the video stuff. He figured out the green screen, crawler and pop up messages all on his own. It presented many challenges which he had to push through. Because he likes it, he was willing to keep trying. If it was just a book report when meeting a challenge, he would give up.
