If you have a homeschooler who would like to be in jrROTC, but who can't get into jrROTC because sometimes they only allow in kids that attend the high school that the unit is affiliated with, Civil Air Patrol is a good alternative. They have a cadet program for kids ages 12-18. You can read all about it at my kid's squidoo page: http://www.squidoo.com/cap-cadet-program

My son is really enjoying his CAP cadet experiences so far. They have regular meetings, encampments and OFlights (orientation flights) that can lead into getting a pilot's license too.

US Navy Sea Cadets are another great alternative! http://www.seacadets.org/public/

Although, our local ps (Department of Defense School System) allows homeschoolers into the JrROTC programs.
