We've been sick with a cold for nearly 2 weeks now. This happens when there are 7 people in a family. We don't all get sick at the same time, so illnesses can drag on forever! So, school has been hit or miss for 2 weeks now also. Last year, I would have been freaking out! My schedule would have to be reworked to account for the missed work. Not this year! There is a wonderful peace in my heart! The school will still be there when we all feel like thinking again. For now, it's cuddle time. It's hot chocolate time. It's drawing time. It's resting and mending time. :o. Yes, for some it's Halo time! LOL. I would like to be rid of this sore throat though!

Jodi: It sound like you are in such a good place. We are sick here too (just returned from a 2 week vacation, immediately went in for a root canal, and now I have a cold to top off the excitement), and if we hadn't already decided to take this month off I'd probably feel some stress over taking the extra days. I"m glad to hear that you can take the time your family needs to heal. :) Hope everyone is feeling better soon (and that you are getting lots of knitting done! My cold is knocking me out so much I'm not sure I'll get my holiday hats finished in time. At least there is always Valentines Day!).

I'm knitting a jackalope (pattern from Amigurumi knits) for my husband! It has been difficult with this cold. I did a lot of knitting and tearing back out! There are a lot of short rows and M1 stitches. Hard to pay attention to when your high on cold meds. But this was the only time I had to work on it since he was out of town this week. Sounds like you've had an exciting month also! Sorry to hear you are miserable too. At least it came before Christmas. We can be thankful for that.

Oh yes, and I'm so thankful we didn't get sick on our trip. That would have been a major bummer. Actually, I think DS being sick this week is helping prevent him from getting *too* excited for solstice/Christmas, so that's another positive! :)

I hear you about the knitting and tearing apart, although my presents aren't nearly as ambitious as yours! I've been working so hard on a ribbed hat for DH but realized that even though I thought I was doing the gauge right, it will barely fit a toddler. Ack! That would make my third non-fitting hat so far this fall, and that just won't do under the tree! Maybe I'll have more presence of mind when I'm off the cold meds...

I'd love to see a pic of your jackalope when you are finished! What an awesome gift! :)

It's really quite silly! Can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll try to post a picture. I operate from my iPad most of the time so picture uploading is tricky some times, but I'm figuring it out slowly. Had my son get on his PC the other day to post my photo to my profile finally. Gauge is so frustrating!! But hang in there and be patient. Knitting is therapy! No, really it is! Hee! Hee!
