My head is exploding over a discussion on my local (and only) "inclusive" hs list. I know it is the only local list where every third post is *not* about Jesus but it still has occasional flare-ups over things like the propriety of Glenn Beck's march. Head:desk. I am not up for starting a whole new group but would like a safe space like this one to find hsers in my area who are truly secular. Ever thought of a section like "tribal areas"?

There are a couple of ways to find members who are close to you:

1. On the "Forums" page at the top left, there is a button for "Community" with a drop down list. One of the options is "Member Locator (http://www.secularhomeschool.com/memberlist.php?do=search)", which is found here: http://www.secularhomeschool.com/memberlist.php?do=search

2. There is the "Groups (http://www.secularhomeschool.com/group)" page which has a group for each US state, and several international ones too.

How 'bout something for us visual folks. Where do we get one of those maps that we can put pushpins in to show where we are. LOL

If I ever took your job, I'd be fired in a few hours! And you're never flaky...as for slow to respond, I'm not sure if that reflects badly on you, or just shows that I spend too much time around here, lol.

Cheers.

You know, Teri, I did a small bit of research into an application like that when the site first opened, and then I sort of abandoned it for more pressing issues. I'll try to get back to it soon!

Ok, everyone...test it out for me...the new "SecularHomeschool.com Member Map" is on the left hand sidebar of the homepage. Just click on "Additions" to add yourself by username and location.

SecularHomeschool.com Member Map
(http://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=178757&x=-100.1953&y=38.2727&z=14)

Is what it says just below it, on the home page, far down on the left.

It's awesome! I love being able to visualize where everyone is.
And Texas being on the big side, it's nice to see which part we are all in.
