Hi :)

This is our first year homeschooling. We started with World Studies which was definitely not what we were looking for. We decided to do world geography but I dont want to make the same mistake again and end up with something similar in nature to world studies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

I am interested to head opinions on geography too. I was looking at the map the world by heart and it seemed interesting but there is limited info as to what the program entails.

I am using this book (http://www.amazon.com/Boring-Middle-Grades-Social-Studies/dp/0865305668/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377820092&sr=8-3&keywords=basic+not+boring+history) for 8th grade. This smaller one (http://www.amazon.com/World-History-BASIC-Not-Boring/dp/086530372X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377820092&sr=8-1&keywords=basic+not+boring+history) is just the world history/geography section. So far it seems to be mainly geography. Then I look up fun activities online to go with it. She has done continents, cities and cultures so far. This is a workbook so not indepth. Just a guide really. Maybe it would work for you.

We have Runkle Geography. It is ok. We used it for a few weeks last year and put it aside. Now we are using History Oddysee level 2 Ancients with great success. It is expensive and a lot of work, but my daughter likes it. It is considered history, geography, and writing.

We are having a really good time with "Trail Guide to World Geography" (http://www.home-school-curriculum.com/product/trail-guide-to-world-geography) this year. It has several levels - one of my children is doing the middle school level, the other the high school level. I bought the ebook with the notebooking already done for me and it's been really great. Depending on how big you want to make this, you can:

-Just do the daily trails assignments (little fact-finding questions)
-Add mapping
-Add research projects (they list multiple ones per week)
-Buy the art and cooking books and add more layers to it (we didn't do this)
