Hello all!
We're taking a short trip down to Hartford, CT on Wednesday through Saturday to go to Dinosaur State Park and I was wondering what you CT area moms and dads would count as a "do not miss" . I'm toying with the idea of taking the commuter rail from New Haven into Union Station for one of the days but I'm not sure DH would go for that. Any other suggestions? We were alsi looking at Gillette Castle and visiting Yale dd 8 is an aspiring paleontologist and DD 4 loves everything) thanks in advance! This is our first field trip!

I think you might like the Peabody Museum (natural history) in New Haven. They have reciprocal admission with lots of other science museums if you have a membership to your home museum (or want to get one before your trip).

Yale has a great art museum. Don't know if that would be fun for your dds or not.

New Haven also has a nice children's museum.

If your daughter likes trains it might be fun to go to NYC. It's an easy trip and might make a fun day trip. So much to see there!!

If you don't mind driving a little north of Hartford, there's a cool air museum right by Bradley Intl. Airport.

Also in Manchester, CT, there's a hobby store that has a huge model train display that runs two Sundays each month. Click on the "Events" link to see the schedule:

We still haven't made it up there, but the (relatively) new Connecticut Science Center (http://www.ctsciencecenter.org/) looks very cool.
