Default Free Classes in Specific Skills (sewing, quilting, cooking, etc.)

Not sure how long this one will be good for, so I'm sharing here in case it's time-limited. These are video-based classes.

Craftsy is great! I discovered it while I was "on a break" from here, and it didn't occur to me to post about it when I came back. Those free classes are, of course, the gateway drug for all the paid classes they have, but the free ones (at least the ones I've done) are fairly in depth (definitely less hit-or-miss than youtube), and once you enroll your access lasts for life. I have used them for myself, only, so far, so I can't speak to how well they'd work for kids, though I'd guess they'd be fine for independent older kids, or younger ones, with supervision. They are intended for adults (unless otherwise noted). Each class is broken down into multiple lessons, and even the free classes can have several hours of instruction. They come with pdf course materials, too. Actually, I DID use on of their courses with my Girl; can't remember if it was a free one, but I used the materials and taught her myself, with some back up from the video when she didn't get what I was saying (or I thought the instructor could explain it better). She made a really cute little zippered pouch for home ec.

I think their free offerings change over time, but if you sign up, you get to keep them forever (I have a few on my account that are not showing in the current course offerings.)

The paid classes are also good (but read the reviews - some are better than others) and they have sales regularly, so you can get almost any of the courses for $19.99 if you wait long enough.

And oh, yeah, it's COMPLETELY secular.

OHH! I just bought a rotary tool with a flex shaft and it seems like the flex shaft class will work for me! And the "cooking for kids" class will be great for Tech! Thanks!

BakedAK what a tremendous follow-up review on those. Thanks so much for filling in the blanks!
