    Default Hello from Middle Georgia!

I'm Amy and I have been homeschooling my two since my eldest, now nearly 19, was in second grade and pretty much since the youngest (now 12) was born. Those first few years it seemed like I did a lot of searching for secular homeschool and not a lot of finding so it will be good to connect with other like-minded people! We've definitely been "eclectic" homeschoolers, and even tried the "school at home" thing with K12. My eldest did ok with it but not my youngest-he just wasn't ready for the kind of structure that even that much public school requires.

I don't really follow a set curriculum brand; I've mostly been cobbling it together as I go along.

About my family: eldest is now in his first year of tech school going for an associate's degree in network admin. Youngest is in seventh grade and we are taking the next two years to do a little "gap-filling" if that makes sense. Husband works in telecom and travels way more than I'd like.

About me: happily married for 19 years, stay-at-home mom for about 15 years now, dog-owner, amateur gardener (with a black thumb sometimes I think), occasional crocheter (yeah I'm not too great at that either, crafty stuff just isn't my thing I guess). I like to read but don't get to do so as much as I'd like (no time!), and I'm getting back into writing and blogging after taking a really long break. My favorite hobby right now is probably the tiny frog pond in my garden.

I suppose that's it for now! I look forward to getting to know you all

PS: Doesn't look like we are in the path of the torrential rains from Florence, but I hope that those of you who are stay safe and well!

Oh, hey! I live there (here?), too! Just have the one 12yo son, and we're in the 4th(?) year of homeschooling. Cool!

Hello Amy! We are technically neighbors - I live in central Alabama and have family that live in Conyers, GA. My kids spent this past summer there and my husband and I traveled back and forth to visit. Although the traffic was killer, the scenery was beautiful.

Congrats on successfully homeschooling your oldest- that's awesome he's in college! I've just started out on my homeschooling journey and I'm curious to know what exactly didn't your kids like about the K12 program? I am planning to enroll my oldest daughter in the program next year and have heard mixed reviews about it.
