Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Whether you are a public school teacher or a
HOMESCHOOL teacher, you deserve recognition as far as I am concerned! 30 kids or 4 kids.....it is a hard job!
Rewarding, YES! Would I do it again, YEP!
When my boys were in school, we sent small houseplants and a thank you note to their teachers. Now that they are home, hugs and a thank you Mom is appreciation enough!
But....I am taking time this weekend for ME!
We homeschooling parents do not pat ourselves on the back enough! We accept it for what it is, roll with the punches and keep doing it!
Well, take a pause today to pat yourself on the back....to reflect on what you have accomplished! You have these children sitting in front of you, who are better people for what you are doing! They are growing and blooming because of YOU!
We are finishing up our 4th year of homeschooling and my boys have come SO far in their schooling that I am shocked every day! We were accidental homeschoolers, this was not meant to be a life plan at that point but I knew after the first year that it HAD to be our plan! They grew so much in that first year!
And yes, there have been days when I want to just toss it all...drop their butts off at public school and move before they get home! Heck, they are teenagers after all! But....those are the days we step away, take a deep breath and remind ourselves WHY we do this!
So....do not poo-poo over teacher appreciation day or week! Think back, hours you have spent researching curriculums, money you have spent on stuff that worked or didn't work, tears you have shed over failures or accomplishments, time spent chatting with other parents on forums like SHS who understand what you are going through and most of all.... time spent huddled on the couch or crowded around the kitchen table solving the newest Math problem, conjugating a verb or learning who shot Abe Lincoln!
You deserve a HUGE Pat on the back! A HUG for all you do!
Take time this weekend for splurging on a special coffee or tea, buy yourself that scone, take 10 minutes to check out the ADULT book section at the thrift store(not the school or kid section)!
HUGS and Happy Homeschooling!
