    Default Alternatives to trick or treating

    Hello!

    My tween-aged son just decided that he doesn’t want to go out this year, but he wants to do something. My goto is watch movies and eat candy, but we do that on a bi-monthly basis, so it’s not that special. We are already doing día de los muertos this weekend.

    Ideas?

    Maybe the movie + candy but just jazz it up a bit for Halloween. Like do freaky face painting before hand, decorate the house or room (if you have not already). Maybe you could do some sort of quiz or advanced treasure hunt or a scary-themed board game to 'earn' the candy, then eat it while you watch a movie.

    As a kid, my parents would have a small bonfire...sticks and leaves from our wooded property. Kids over, ghost stories, etc. Of course now, you might have restrictions based on where you live.

    I think I have a board game that is haunted house themed put away for such an occasion and I totally forgot! I will have to go dig it out.

    I love the bonfire idea. We have a fire pit and it’s okay to do it, but it’s supposed to be raining tomorrow so it would not be fun.
