Default Computers and very small kids

I wanted to share something I read that I wish I had done with ds:

I introduced my 5-year-old and 2-year-old to startx and xmonad. They?re DELIGHTED! | The Changelog

instead of copping the attitude that if the little bean would stick and i could bring him safely into the world, i would do ANYTHING, even give up computers!

I dont quite understand your comment though . . if the little bean would stick, i'd give up computers? Are you saying you were having trouble conceiving and considered giving up computers as part of your bargain with some sort of deity?

anyways, thats all good and fine for hard-core linnux types, but i'm perfectly happy for my boys to learn more timely skills, like 3-d game design
    Cara, homeschooling one
Raven, ds 10, all around intense kid
    Orion, floundering recent graduate
22 yo dd, not at home

It's perfectly timely, and 3-D game design is kind of a niche market.
