    I know.. I just can't justify it even if we could afford it. I just can't dig up enough paranoia about my kid never becoming a decent writer eventually, to pony up that much for something like that, when things that are free abound, and the best way to learn good writing in my opinion, is to read good writing, and then to start when ready.

    Perimenopause and its effects are a subject near and dear to my heart right now, as well as the strange sensation that suddenly, death is on every doorstep. I hear about someone's parent(s) dying, or something else about death too close for comfort, regularly lately, to the point that it weirds me out, and other people I know close to my age are saying the same thing. Is it our age, that in the 40s, death starts calling close to home too often to ignore? Or was something in the air this year?

    I'm still mourning Leonard Nimoy and Gene Wilder, and dreading the day when it's time to mourn Alan Alda.
