    Default Homeschooling with Minecraft

Anyone know if this is secular or does it have christian themes/viewpoints? Thinking about it for my 9yo but saw on a you tube video that it was Christian based and Christian run with Christian moderators. Seemed to be heavily non-secualr in that way but I am wondering about the actual classes and things kids can do......
Thanks I am specifically talking about the server site: HomeSchool With MineCraft

I love playing Minecraft, and playing it with my boys.... but honestly, I dont know that it translates well to homeschooling. We did research a few years ago about the biomes, and the materials that the game contains... but the samples of trying to make it educational seem overly contrived. Like slapping a MickeyMouse sticker on a math worksheet and calling it “Disney Homeschooling”.
If it looks to be a xtian group, it probably is.
There was also a Minecraft Homeschool, privately operated and with a heavily moderated chat. So, there are likely a few “homeschools” out there, but it depends on if you want social activity or education out of it. Im dubious about the education aspect.
There are some servers listed on SHS that are (were) considered “kid friendly”, and I could ask DS11 what the names of servers he plays on now are called.

Heres the previous thread, oh my FSM its over two years ago.

ON that Minecraft server there is a page under the heading Services, that mentions the History book - Story of the World. That books series is a fairly well known Christian History series. I have seen it being mentioned on a number of homeschooling mothers youtube channels, and yes most of these moms are christians. Especially when they are also using Apologia, Sonlight and such other like curriculum.

Apart from that, most of the other books do seem to be secular - Magic School Bus series, Magic Tree House series, etc. All for elementary school. Nothing for high school - huge sigh!!
DS attended a small elementary school from grades 1-8 and did very well. The high school he was enrolled in was 4 times bigger and the transition did not go well - most especially in Semester 2 of his grade 9 year. So I pulled him out to homeschool him through high school. He tried doing distance education at home but that has not worked out. So now we have to start over again with REAL homeschooling. When my son is not doing any lessons, he is playing video games - MMORPGs - online.

Story of the World is definitely Christian in book 1, but after that follows a historically accurate path. It is western world centric, but does at least discuss Oceania, Africa, India and Asia. My DD really loved listening to it, we read 2,3 and 4.

Agreed that SOTW1 is Christian biased and SOTW2 just a tiny bit... but SOTW3 and 4 are secular for sure. And since it's used by so many secular users, including as a spine in several prominent secular history programs like Build Your Library and History Odyssey - it is absolutely not an indication that something is Christian on its own.
