I am still debating the homeschool option with myself; my daughter is currently enrolled in a public school in second grade. We are still not sure about if we want to homeschool and if we choose to do it, HOW we will do it (ie. curriculum). However, IF I do it, one thing is for sure. I will be seeking other free-thinking, critical, rational, like-minded parents, because I am deeply concerned that it will be difficult to find play groups in our area that aren't religious in some way. I have read too many "faith-based curriculums" online and I am aware that there is an inordinate number of uber-religious homeschoolers. If we are going to do this, I need a strong social component to the plan that is NOT religious. I need a support network of moms and dads (and of course their children) who strive to live self-reliant, critically-examined, reason-based, self-motivated, and self-morally-governed lives.
