Are your shelves bowing? Are those closets overflowing? Do you find yourself perusing the homeschool organization boards on Pinterest? Did you just order more curriculum and now have to find a spot for it?
STOP! Deep breath!
Clear that homeschool clutter! Get that room clear of all the stuff you no longer need. Does it make you happy? Are you really going to need that preschool curriculum again, especially if your kids are in their teens? No? Then pull it out and make room in your homeschool for what you want and need.
Wait? Then what? Do I donate it? Toss it? Recycle it?
Nope. List it. In our Secular SWAP area! One homeschooler's trash is another homeschooler's treasure. If not our SWAP area, many local homeschool groups have SWAP days and other boards have SWAP areas. You can also post on your local board offering it(for sale or trade or free). If you really don't want to deal with that, check your local library and see if they would like a donation. It may help a homeschool family in need.
Make it a family event! Clear that clutter. Get the kids to take pictures of it as you clear it. Have them help box it up. They may even have some input on whether or not they want to keep it. Turn it into a life skills lesson.
Good luck! I dreaded doing this, but it really is freeing to know I have room for other homeschool material. And that other families are getting use from my discards! Go forth and organize!
